A Day With My Dad

I woke up very excited last Wednesday morning because I will be  having a long day with my dad whom I called Papa. It is a very rare opportunity for the both of us to go on a "date", I mean  having time for ourselves alone. Papa is the type of person that is most of the time quite and reserved. You will seldom hear him talk  but when he does it is surely full of sense and wisdom. He always knew when to talk and when to listen and most of the time he is a good listener. On the other side,  he is  approachable, easy  and fun to be with.

We agreed day before that since I will be going near the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Office, I invited him to come along and register as a new voter in Davao. He said that he last voted in 1983 and he couldn't even remember the names of the politicians he voted. LOL! I think my dad was overly  excited because  when I woke up that morning he was all dressed up and ready to go. Haha! As usual, I am an hour late...

Papa  at Comelec... He's so excited about the next election...

the view outside Comelec Office... Actually inside Magsaysay Park...

asked Papa to pose near the  wall of Miner's Restaurant...
enjoying our eat all you can lunch at Miner's along Ponciano Street...

It was a very unforgettable day. Papa and I practically hang out almost the whole day. After taking our lunch, he accompanied me to the bank where I opened an account to buy my domain. We headed to Land Transportation Office in Ecoland thinking of applying a Student Permit for both of us. I was given twice already  but has expired before I applied for  a license. I think Papa never had a driver's license. I am just not sure if he is afraid of driving but I heard stories that he met an accident before while driving a motorcycle and from then on he never dared to drive any vehicle.

I was so happy when he finally decided to apply for a Student Permit because he is now practicing how to  drive  the motorcycle that my brother left him. I was kind of  disappointed when his application was not processed  in the LTO that day  because he does not have a birth certificate. I am currently working for the  late registration of  it. Hopefully, it will be finished  before this year ends.

I super enjoyed that day and my sister even called to congratulate Papa on his Comelec registration and of course on our date. I hope to have more bonding moments with my Papa in the coming days. You know, my dad is so cool and fun to be with.

This post made me wish I still have a father by my side. But that's life. It's harsh but I am moving on. :-(

It's good to see a daughter and father in tandem. Especially so when infront of the delectable and sumptuous dishes, LOL!

Uy! Glad to know that both you and your Dad registered at COMELEC's Field Office. Ang iba kasi di pa magparegister kung dili last minute or worse, if they don't need the voter's certification. Unya kung dili maprovide ilang kinahanglan, sala namo, LOL! Hay nalang. Pinoy jud!
